| Reconciliation
Anyone wishing to receive this sacrament at other times may
make an appointment with one of the priests. Twice a year,
during Advent and Lent, communal parish penance services are
held for adults, and the children of our parish school, and
religious education program.
Baptism (Infants and Children)
Families seeking Baptism should be registered members of
the parish and are urged to begin preparation for this
sacrament during the pregnancy. Parents are asked to call
the parish office to make their desire known for their
child's Baptism. They are asked not to make any definite
arrangements for a date prior to this call. Parents will be
interviewed by a member of the parish staff, and they will
attend a meeting regarding the sacrament. These meetings are
scheduled monthly. No Baptisms take place during the season
of Lent.
Rite of Christian Initiation of
Adults
(Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, RCIA)
This process of initiation is adapted to meet the needs
of women and men who are not baptized or who are baptized in
another Christian church. The journey is divided into four
stages: 1) Evangelization. The inquirers begin their
spiritual journey by asking questions reflecting the Gospel
message with other Christians.
2) Catechumenate. The Catechumens (unbaptized) and the
Candidates (baptized) grow in faith, interact with the
community, participate in liturgical rituals, learn about
Catholicism, and about sharing their faith.
3) Purification and Enlightenment. This is a time of
intense spiritual preparation during the Lenten Season in
preparation for the Easter Vigil and the Celebration of
Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.
4) Mystagogy. The Neophytes (newly initiated) reflect
upon their experience of the Sacraments of Initiation, and
deepen their participation in the parish/church community.
There are many persons who have practiced the Catholic
faith of his/her spouse for years but have never made a
formal profession of faith in the Catholic Church. You might
consider calling the church to inquire about expectations or
requirements to become a Catholic.
Matrimony
Registered members contact Mrs. Mary Jo Nocero 9 months-to-1
year, and no less than 6 months in
advance of the tentative wedding date. In accordance with
diocesan policy, no date may be
set until the initial preparation is satisfactorily
completed. The marriage preparation process includes sessions
with a support couple from the parish, a written instrument
for marriage preparation entitled FOCUS, attendance at an
Engaged Encounter weekend provided by the Diocese, and
meetings with the priest or Deacon.
Anointing of the Sick
Two communal anointing services are held each year. Please check
the calendar for dates. The sacrament is also available at
any of the weekday 8:30 AM Masses when the need arises,
i.e., before surgery or at the beginning of a serious
illness. Call the Church Office at least one day prior to
the morning on which you wish to be anointed. For
emergencies or special circumstances call the Parish Office,
(407) 831-1212. |
