Ministry To The Sick
You are needed!
The purpose of this ministry is to visit the two
hospitals, Florida Altamonte and Florida South, several
Nursing homes, and those who are homebound at a time in
their lives when they need a prayer, a visit and perhaps
the comfort and healing power of Christ in Holy
Communion. As a volunteer in this ministry you
shadow(visit with another minister) to determine if this
is the ministry for you, Diocesan training and ongoing
education. Requirement Parishioner, a practicing
Catholic, Minister of Holy Communion and FDLE &
FBI fingerprinted, This ministry gives you many joys and
fulfillment in helping others.
If You Are in the Hospital
Please call St Mary Magdalen ((407) 831-1212)
if you are going into any Orlando hospital for surgery
and when asked at registration your faith preference
that you are Catholic so you can be visited by a
minister to the sick. If you are admitted through an
Emergency Room please have a family member inform us, as
often we are not informed. We ask you to do this
so we can minister to your spiritual needs whether you
are well or ill.
Anointing of the Sick
A communal anointing service is held each year. Please check the calendar for the date.
The sacrament is also available on the first Tuesday of the every month or at any of
the weekday 8:30 AM Masses when the need arises, i.e., before surgery or at the
beginning of a serious illness. Call the Church Office at least one day prior to
the morning on which you wish to be anointed. For emergencies or special circumstances
