The mission of Health and Wellness Ministry is "to integrate faith and health by promoting a healthy mind, body and spirit". This ministry was formally established in January 2011 – there are 15 actively engaged Health and Wellness team members supported by many additional Health and Wellness Volunteers. Monthly meetings address the goals and objectives developed annually by the team. The Health and Wellness Office is located near the Adult Center courtyard. All health-related disciplines are welcome at our monthly meetings. Watch for health-related topics and programs in the parish bulletin.

Support Groups

Alzheimer’s Family Caregiver Support Group

Second Monday of every month, 7:30 – 9:00 pm in the Adult Center.
Family members of persons with any type of cognitive impairment are welcome.
The Central & North Florida Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association sponsors this group facilitated by Annette Kelly (contact: kellyarnp@gmail.com or 407-331-0911)

Caregiving

Are you caring for an older relative?

Please contact Annette Kelly (kellyarnp@gmail.com) at the Health & Wellness Ministry Office to schedule a home visit from one of our Health & Wellness nurses. This visit can address the possibility of using our Adult Center as a caring, safe environment for an elder who needs some assistance during the day.

Are you caring for a family member at home?

St. Mary Magdalen is a community partner of Share the Care, Inc. in a project designed to help family caregivers learn about and access community resources.

• COMPLETE – the online 10-minute caregiver self-assessment (it’s anonymous)
• RECEIVE – a personalized menu of recommended local services designed to help you. You may also choose to be called by our Share the Care Case Manager who can provide access to specific family services. Hundreds of local families have benefitted from this innovative program.
