BLESSINGS FOR FAMILIES AWAITING THE BIRTH OF A CHILD
This special blessing is given at the end of all masses on the Fourth Sunday of Advent. Just come and receive a SMM hug.

LITURGY OF THE WORD FOR CHILDREN
This is a process of sharing faith with children from Kindergarten to 5th grade. It takes place at the 8, 10, and 12 Noon Masses from September through May in the Parish Life Center. The Presider at Mass dismisses the children who follow their teachers out of Church before the Scripture Readings are proclaimed. They all return before the Prayers of the Faithful. During their time together, catechists center on the same Gospel reading parents are listening to during Mass. Teachers send home follow-up pages with the children which contain ideas for family activities to re-enforce the lesson of the day. For more information or to volunteer to help contact John Miller.

OUR SUNDAY "FAMILY" MASS    Photos
On February 1, 2004, SMM celebrated its first Sunday Family Mass at the 12 Noon Mass. Graced by the music of the Children's Choir, Fr. Charlie Mitchell lead us all in a warm and cherished experience. All family members - singles , marrieds, children and grandparents - are included and involved in many aspects of this occasion. If you would like to enjoy Eucharist in a special way or would like to volunteer to help at future celebrations contact Debbie Tomaselli.
If you or your family would like to participate as an Honor Family, Hospitality Family or as Lectors for a future Family Mass, please contact Debbie Tomaselli, Family Spiritual Enrichment Coordinator.

SUNDAY CHILD CARE AND FAITH FORMATION

On Sunday morning during the 10 a.m. Mass, we are fortunate to be able to offer our families at St. Mary Magdalen a Faith Formation Program for their children ages four and five. It is held at the Child Care Center across from our renovated Church. The theme for this year is "Sharing God's Story." We are blessed to have trained and dedicated cathechists who aspire to bring the love and story of Jesus to our little ones. The children will bring home each week a brightly colored story card telling their parents what they have done during their lesson, encouraging children to share the story with their parents, and offering suggestions for parents to follow up on the topic. Materials are based on scripture stories that children will love to hear and learn at their level. Contact Kelly Hopper for more information.

This program begins on Sunday, September 10 and will run until the end of June. The cost per family is $15, but no one will be denied because of lack of funds. Christine Gardner is coordinating and training our Catechists for the 4 & 5 year old program. She is often working behind the scenes helping to insure that our teachers are well-prepared to teach your little ones. When your children come home filled with excitement and awe about what they have learned about Jesus and how much He loves us, we can thank Christine for lighting the fires and hearts of their teachers.

We also have SunDay Care for children ages 1 to 3 years during the 10:00 a.m. Mass in the Child Care Center. There is no cost for this program as it is a volunteer co-op staffed by the parents of the children who participate. This ministry is a wonderful way for parents to enjoy and quietly attend 10 a.m. Mass as well as get to know other parents who are helping out in this ministry. If you are looking for a nuturing environment for your active toddler so you can fully participate in the Mass, please check us out. For more information contact Dianne Couch or Claire Geltz at the Church Office.
