CHILI
COOK OFF
Every January SMM is treated to our own special
COOK OFF for the best Chili recipe - spicy and mild. Each family attending this
event is welcomed to come and bring their own chili dish entry and sample those
that other families make. If chili is not your thing, we serve hot dogs and dessert
instead. Music and dancing is provided. The cost of the evening is $5 per person/$15
per family and half price for families entering a pot of chili! All money raised
goes toward scholarships for families or singles in our parish who wish to attend
the Family Camping Retreat but need financial assistance. Be watching the bulletin

FAMILY
CAMPING RETREAT
The Family Life Social Ministry Team sponsors this wonderful faith and
fun-filled weekend experience at the beautiful Woodlands Campground in Monteverde,
Florida every April for all families and single people in our Parish. It is an
event to which families return year after year. If you missed the 2005 event,
make plans now to join us in April 2006 at the Woodlands!
Families
have the option of living in tents, cabins or dorm rooms for the weekend. In addition
to the delicious food served at our community meals and the beautiful Mass celebrated
by Fr. Charlie at the lake on Saturday night, families can go swimming, fishing,
join in the hay rides and campfires at night, ride horses, take part in athletic
and game competition, make arts and crafts, and just have a plain old fashion
good time.
In addtion to those families who are participating in the
weekend overnight camping event, we welcome all those in the praish who would
like to come out and attend the Mass celebrated by Father by the Lake on Saturday
evening.
Cost varies and scholarships are available. Call Claire
