CELEBRATE MARRIAGE SUNDAY    Photos
SMM first hosted CELEBRATE MARRIAGE SUNDAY in January 2005. Fr. Ed Thompson presided over a special Mass for married couples. During this Eucharist, all couples had the opportunity to renew their marriage vows. We especially honor those who have been married 5, 10 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50 plus years. Our Parish Community singled out for high esteem the most recently married and the longest married at the 12:00 noon Mass. For more information on our Celebrate Marriage Sunday contact Mary Jo Nocero or Claire Geltz at the Church Office. To see photos from this year and past years, click here. This year our celebration will take place on the last Sunday in January at the 12:00 noon Mass.

THE HONEYMOONERS: A Marriage Group For Those Married Under Five Years  Resources
This group is for couples of all ages married under five years. It meets on the second Sunday of each month in Annex Room # 7 for snacks and discussion on topics relevant to the group. It is a place to meet new friends, to socialize, and to reflect on issues of concern such as time, sex, and money for those in this stage of marriage. At the present time, we are using a video based Marriage series by Les and Leslie Perrott as a basis for discussion. Child care is provided.
MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER   Resources     Marriage Encounter Weekends
Worldwide Marriage Encounter offers a weekend experience designed to give married couples the opportunity to learn a technique of loving communication that they can use for the rest of their lives. It's a chance to look deeply into their relationship with each other and with God. It's a time to share their feelings, hopes and dreams with each other. The emphasis of the Marriage Encounter weekend is on the communication between husbands and wives. The weekend provides a conducive environment for couples to spend time together, away from the distractions and tensions of everyday life, while encouraging them to focus on each other and their relationship. It's not a retreat, marriage clinic, group sensitivity, or a substitute for counseling. It's a unique approach aimed at revitalizing Marriage. This is a time for you and your spouse to be alone together, to rediscover each other and together focus on your relationship for an entire weekend. Every marriage deserves that kind of attention! Highly recommended by priests and couples in our parish.

Marriage Encounter Weekends are held almost every month at either the San Pedro Retreat Center or the Spring Hills Suites in Sanford. There are also at least two Spanish weekends per year. There is a registration fee of $25, but no one is turned away for lack of funds. For information on Marriage Encounter and the current schedule please click on the LINKS button above. For more information call our SMM contact couple Joann and Jim Pandolfi. To register for one of the upcoming Marriage Encounter Weekends, contact Judy and Jerry Hedges.   Marriage Encounter Weekend Dates.

SHARED JOURNEYS: A Small Group Process For Married Couples  Resources
At the present time, we have two groups which come together once a month in a group members' home to share their marital journey. One group (married between 5-20 years) has six couples who take turns hosting the meeting and using the video/workbook series "Boundaries in Marriage." The group meets once a month September-May, with an adults only social outing in December.

Another group of eight couples (married over 20 years) calling themselves the "Over the Hill Group," are discussing the book
"The Holy Longing," by Ronald Rolheiser. Anne and George Eichner are the group leaders for those married 20 years or more.

Each new group will have an opportunity to pick a book on which to base their discussions. There are a number of possibilities including Chapman's "Language of Love," Parrott's "The Love List," or Fr. Chuck Gallagher's "A Scriptural Approach to Marriage." These gatherings are not counseling sessions nor group therapy. They are simply a way for couples to get to know other couples at a deeper level by sharing their joys and struggles in marriage. In each group there will be time for prayer, couple dialogues, discussion and socializing. If you are interested in starting your another group in either of the age categories or if you want to join groups that are now forming, please call these leaders and they will help you establish it!
We will soon have new group leaders for those married 5-20 years and Anne and George Eichner are group leaders for those married 20 years or more.
