The Family Life Commission
is pleased to announce that Annex Room #12 has been refurbished for our parish's
Child Care needs. The work is almost complete and it looks terrific!
Many thanks to Vince Edman, St. Mary Magdalen's Facilities Manager, for overseeing
the project and the work of the KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS, under Greg Nelsen’s leadership,
in helping prep and paint the room. We are grateful to the great work of the facilities
department of St. Mary Magdalen who put up the new cabinets and shelves.
This project was undertaken, thanks to the financial contribution from one
couple from our Mother's Group. Since then, the Orlando Catholic Singles generously
donated $150 and other parents have come forward to donate to this project as
well. We just had a contribution of new children’s chairs, organizational supplies
for the closets, a VHS/DVD player, and a vacuum cleaner. We are still hoping to
get new carpets. A special Family Life Commission Committee on Child
Care, headed by Barbie Coleman, developed the project. They also put together
Guidelines for parents and Child Care Workers. Dodie Pagano Tobin, Chairperson
of the Child Care Ministry, is doing a wonderful job of organizing a competent,
reliable, and caring group of Child Care Sitters. Dodie is also enlisting the
help of teenagers from the Youth Group as volunteers. If any one is interested
in helping out in this ministry, whether as a paid Sitter
or
a volunteer, please call Dodie Pagano Tobin.
Just in the last month, Child Care services were available for the Knight
of Columbus Pro Life event in February, the Parish’s Active Parenting programs,
the Mothers Group, and the Parish Mission (morning and evening sessions). It is
our hope that parents who would like to attend an event or a program at the parish
will utilize the Child Care Services, when available. If your group
is looking for Child Care for an upcoming program or event, please contact Dodie.
