Jeanne Morris

Coordinator

Separated & Divorced Ministry

My name is Jeanne Morris and I am one of three Coordinators of the Separated and Divorced Ministry called New Beginnings.

Originally from Indiana, my family moved to Winter Park in 1956 (pre Disney, Martin Marietta and Interstate 4). I graduated from Bishop Moore and the University of Florida where I majored in Linguistics. After my husband clerked for a Federal Appeals Judge in Jacksonville for two years, we moved back to Winter Park in 1974 and had two children.

Over the years, I have been active in St. Mary Magdalen in a number of ways: as a member of the 10 a.m. choir, a reader, a member of the Liturgy Commission, a volunteer in the Music and Liturgy Office, and now as a facilitator for New Beginnings. In my "outside of church life," I represent the citizens of Seminole County as an elected board member for Seminole County public Schools. I also serve on the American Cancer Society Board of Directors and the Readiness Coalition for Seminole County.

After my divorce in 1996, I went through the New Beginnings Program. I am involved in this group today because no matter how much time and energy I invest, I get so much more in return -- new friends, new experiences, and the knowledge that I have helped some wonderful people find the tools to begin the healing process after the shock and pain of divorce. It is my joy to extend an invitation to any one who is hurting from the pains of a separation or a divorce to call and find out more about the program. I can be reached at 407-333-9135 or Teammorris@aol.com.
