Fingerprinting/Safe Environment Training

To ensure the safety of our parish community, all those over 14 years of age who will be working around our children, vulnerable adults, disabled, or parish finances must be Diocesan fingerprinted and cleared, as well as complete the Safety Environment Training before serving!

To check on clearance expiration date (every five years), ensure the parish has all required documentation on file, or any other question, contact Melissa Findley, Steward for Time & Talent 407.831.1212 x268 or MelissaF@StMaryMagdalen.org.

Safe Environment Training

The Diocese of Orlando is required by the United States Catholic Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) to follow certain guidelines with regard to safe environment training. As are all other archdioceses and dioceses, we are required to undergo regular audits by the USCCB to be sure that we are in compliance with those regulations. Therefore, all church personnel and disciples (volunteers) working around children and vulnerable populations must complete the “Safety Environment Training” in addition to obtaining a background/fingerprint clearance. Although the topic of the training may be difficult to discuss, the reality must be dealt with in an appropriate and swift manner. These trainings give us specific policies and procedures to follow in order to secure a safe environment for all of God’s people.

There are two ways in which you may fulfill the safety training requirement.

In-House Option

Attend a session on safe environments here at the parish. At the end of the session, the facilitator will sign a completion form for you. You will not be required to take a test. We are offering several different sessions. The session will last less than 45 minutes:

May 2011
  • 26th (Thursday) at 7:00 pm in the Pope John Paul II room
June 2011
  • 23rd (Thursday) at 7:00 pm in the Pope John Paul II room

Online Option

You may view the “Protecting Our Youth” video on-line (approximately 20 minutes) and will be required to take an on-line 13 question test. It is available at http://www.orlandodiocese.org/en/safe-environment-training-video-a-test/registers or go to http://www.orlandodiocese.org. Click on "Safety Environment Training" on the right. Click again on "Safety Environment Training".

When you access the site, please fill in all appropriate fields:

  • Create Username must contain at least 3 characters, a number (0-9), an upper and lower case letter, and no spaces
  • Create Password must contain at least 6 characters, a number (0-9), an upper and lower case letter, no spaces, and a special sign (#, @, !, etc.)

PLEASE NOTE:
You will need your bar code number to register for the test. (The number will be provided to you upon completion of your fingerprinting application). If you were previously fingerprinted using the ink & card method, use barcode #: 01020304050.

After all fields are filled in, click “Register.” Then you will be asked to login (with your new username/password) to the left hand side of your screen.  After you login, instructions will appear.

If you choose the on-line process, the Diocese will send you e-mail notification with pass or fail results. Please forward a copy to Melissa Findley, Steward for Time and Talent at MelissaF@StMaryMagdalen.org in order for us to confirm that you have fulfilled the requirement. If you print out the certificate, please mail, drop off or fax the copy to the parish office.

May you have a God-Filled & Stress-Free Day!
